This spring, I've chosen to participate in the Spring Reading Thing, which you can find out more about here.
The whole idea is to make a list of reading goals to accomplish between March 20th and June 20th of 2009. Since I'm still in school until the beginning of May, I've included my selections for school and gone light on the recreational reading. My goal in participating in this challenge is to reduce the amount of books I own that I have yet to read. After school is over, I want to focus on one specific author because I would like to become more linear in my reading selections.
School reading:
1) Light in August - William Faulkner
2) Absalom, Absalom! - William Faulkner
3) The Hamlet - William Faulkner
4) Go Down, Moses - William Faulkner
5) The Elementary Particles - Michel Houellebecq
6) Pattern Recognition - William Gibson
7) Paul Auster - Travels in the Scriptorium
8) Joseph Andrews - Henry Fielding
9) Tristram Shandy - Lawrence Sterne
10) Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
Recreational:
1) American Pastoral - Philip Roth
2) The Human Stain - Philip Roth
I will come back and add more as I am able, but this is what it's looking like so far!

Oh I hope you can get through the William Faulkner books okay. I read them on my own (no class) as an adult and never quite got Faulkner. He'd change narrators and change chronology in ways that were so confusing to me. If you're taking classes on these, maybe that will help. And then you can explain to the rest of us what the heck he's talking about ;)
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your challenge! Happy Reading!

Oh, lots of Faulkner. I've enjoyed several of his books, but I'm not sure how many I could read in a row. :) Hope your spring reading is going well. Thanks for being part of Spring Reading Thing '09!
